Meet Alexis Gomez
Alexis Sarah Elizabeth Gomez…wow, she sure has a lot of names! But right now, let’s just go with Alexis! She’s a six foot tall, blonde haired, Mexican briar! …Again wierd, right? Yeah, but weird or not this girl can sing!
Alexis grew up in the Dayton area (with a short stint in Michigan) and has been singing and playing music for as long as she can remember. Her dad, brother, and sister are all musicians so she didn’t really have much choice in the matter! As she got older, she joined the family band and it wasn’t long before she was stealing the show. She plays guitar and piano, and dabbles around with a few other instruments to include banjo, bass and drums. That instrumental talent, combined with her clean country vocals has contributed greatly to her success. But it’s also her songwriting that has been noticed and recognized in these last few years. She’s won a number of local contests where she’s been given the opportunity to showcase some of her original music. Alexis will tell you “It’s all been so great, and I have such a blast performing live, but I love getting to play the songs that I write as much as anything!”
Alexis’ influences are all over country music, but her strongest role models are Martina McBride, Miranda Lambert, Garth Brooks, The Band Perry and Taylor Swift. And you can definitley hear those influences from the first note she sings! She plays with her band here locally, The Alexis Gomez Band, as well as with a variety of bands in Nashville on the Broadway strip. Alexis says “Playing and singing wtih so many talented artists in Nashville has helped me so much! I think surrounding yourself with musicians like that really is what will make you a better artist!” She’s also one of the Worship Leaders at SouthBrook Christian Church in Miamisburg Ohio, her home church since she was a child. She will tell you, “I work hard at this, but at the end of the day, I know this is a gift that God has given me. I always try to always remember that and thank Him every chance I get!”
Next to music, her passion is Spanish. She loves the language and the Hispanic culture. Alexis is currently a senior at Wright State University, studying to be a Spansih teacher. “As an artist I hope to be able to create music that people want to sing and listen to. I would also love to bring something a little different to Country Music, which is where I hope to weave in some of my Hispanic heritage into my music”.
Alexis currently travels to Nashville once or twice a month but will be moving down there following her graduation to chase her dream full time! She plays a variety of clubs but can be seen regularly at Tootsies, Honky Tonk Central and Rippys. Please check her schedule and stop by and see her!
